Building stronger communities by creating sustainable income opportunities.
Homegrown Hub is an economic development initiative designed to help individuals, entrepreneurs, and communities build long-term financial stability through business development, education, and access to broader markets.
Rather than focusing on a single program, Homegrown Hub combines nonprofit programming with commercial infrastructure to create a practical pathway from learning to earning.
How Homegrown Hub Works
Homegrown Hub brings together two organizations with distinct roles and a shared mission.
Homegrown Hub Foundation
Homegrown Hub Foundation is a Missouri-based nonprofit dedicated to strengthening household income, expanding economic opportunity, and building resilient communities through entrepreneurship, commerce, workforce development, and economic innovation.
Working alongside Homegrown Hub Marketplace, the Foundation transforms real-world commerce into meaningful economic insight. By utilizing participation data, commerce activity, and micro supply chain visibility, the Foundation supports more informed economic development strategies while identifying opportunities to strengthen local and regional economies.
The Foundation will develop and operate programs designed to help individuals and entrepreneurs build sustainable income. Planned initiatives include business education, workforce development, community partnerships, and the Homegrown Hub Business Incubator, where participants will gain practical business experience, refine their products, develop operational skills, build sales through the Marketplace, and prepare for long-term business ownership.
The programs offered by Homegrown Hub Foundation are designed to be funded primarily through revenues generated by Homegrown Hub Marketplace. This long-term funding model is intended to reduce dependence on ongoing fundraising and grant cycles while providing sustainable support for programs that strengthen households, expand economic opportunity, and build more resilient communities. Grants, charitable contributions, and strategic partnerships may supplement these efforts by expanding or accelerating specific initiatives.
Homegrown Hub Marketplace
Homegrown Hub Marketplace is more than an ecommerce platform. It is commercial infrastructure designed to help households and businesses build stable, sustainable income while strengthening local and regional economies.
Rather than focusing solely on increasing sales volume, the Marketplace encourages sellers to build financially sustainable businesses. Sellers are encouraged to price their products using a minimum 30% profit margin, helping create meaningful income from every sale while supporting long-term business growth and household financial stability.
The Marketplace also creates a new way to measure economic impact. By combining real-time commerce activity with seller participation, Homegrown Hub can help demonstrate how additional income affects participating households while providing valuable insight into community, county, regional, and statewide economic outcomes. This visibility supports more informed economic development decisions and allows progress to be measured over time.
Working with sellers to better understand their cost of goods sold (COGS) also creates visibility into local and statewide supplier networks. As participation grows, this information helps identify opportunities to reduce production costs, strengthen local purchasing relationships, improve supply chain resilience, and keep more economic activity within Missouri communities.
Together, these capabilities allow the Marketplace to do more than connect buyers and sellers. They create a sustainable economic engine that helps strengthen businesses, improve household income, support the programs offered by Homegrown Hub Foundation, and provide the real-time economic insight needed to build stronger communities.
Homegrown Hub Marketplace and Homegrown Hub Foundation are built on a simple question:
What if we could create a way to help marginalized households and communities with purpose?
That question became the foundation for a different approach to economic development—one that combines sustainable commerce, measurable impact, and community-driven innovation to strengthen households, businesses, and the communities they call home.
Current Status
Both organizations are currently in development.
